Descenders for rigging work

Descenders are a crucial piece of equipment for rope work. The devices are designed to control your descent on a fixed rope by regulating friction. Descenders are a staple for both mountain climbers and professionals, such as professional riggers working at height. A descender allows you to position yourself at any point of a rope, so you can easily execute your job, and can also be used as a belay device. Climbing descenders and professional descenders are quite similar, but some of the latter boast smart features that make your rigging work easier. Petzl descenders

Petzl is one of the leading manufacturers of descenders. Over the years, it has introduced a number of innovative designs.  Petzl’s I’D S self-breaking descender allows you to smoothly cover inclined or horizontal distances. The descender for rope access work is equipped with an ergonomic handle that enables you to descend in a controlled and comfortable way. The built-in anti-panic function provides even more security by automatically stopping the descent when you pull the handle too hard. The I’D S advanced AUTO-LOCK system allows you to position yourself at a workstation without the need to manipulate the handle. When it’s locked, you can take up the rope without using the handle. The safety system also allows the rope to be installed while the descender remains connected to your safety harness. The ID’S has a workload of 250 kg, which equals two persons.
